Lucky Bucks Version Release: 1937 "Old King Cole" - PMG 62 Uncirculated

Price

$249.00

Lucky Bucks were vintage play money issued from 1930 to 1942. The first versions featuring Mickey Mouse and his friends ran over a 2-year period from 1932 to 1933. These were issued in the Sunday comics section of newspapers and designed to be cut out by kids. They are color lithographs on newsprint and often have comics printed on the back. The second run included a character in 1937 called Old King Cole. The "Old King Cole Display Company" which made store window displays based on the nursery rhyme character, also produced early Mickey Mouse merchandise. This merchandise link led to Disney producing a "Silly Symphony" cartoon called "Old King Cole" where Mickey Mouse appeared. This was part of a 3 piece set including Mickey, Pluto and Old King Cole.
