Disney Dollars
Disney Dollars were a form of corporate scrip, or private currency, issued by The Walt Disney Company from 1987 until 2014. They were similar in design to U.S. paper currency, featuring beloved Disney characters, and were redeemable at face value for goods and services at Disney theme parks, stores, and cruise ships. While new Disney Dollars are no longer sold, existing ones are still accepted at Disney locations. They have become a collectible item, often with a market value higher than their original face value, and Disney profited significantly from those that were never redeemed.
