Topolino

Fantastiliardi

Topolino is the Italian name for Mickey Mouse.  It also happens to be a comic book series starring Disney characters that has been published since 1932 and continues to this day.  Throughout the history of Topolino, the comic book produced promotional ‘Gadgets’ in the form of coins and bank notes.  For one year only, in 1997, Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (one of Italy’s largest banks) collaborated with Topolino to distribute Fantastiliardi (Italy Fantasy Dollars).  The notes were minted by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato (Italian State Mint and Polygraphic Institute) in denominations of 1, 10, 50, 100, 500, and 1,000.
