1993 marks Mickey's 65th Anniversary. This significant milestone justified the first significant change to the Disney Dollar. A gold ribbon above the portrait on the front highlights “Mickey’s 65th.” Color, a lined pattern, and a wavy lined pattern were added to the underprint of the $1 notes. The back of the $1 notes celebrates the January 24, 1993 opening of Toontown in Disneyland.
